Acid Reflux Disease (GERD)

Acid Reflux Disease, or Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is a common illness that affects up to 40 percent of the U.S. population in their lifetime. In addition to its negative impact on the quality of life, GERD may lead to more serious diseases, including esophagitis, ulcers, Barrett’s esophagus, and esophageal cancer.

Patients experiencing acid reflux symptoms are typically prescribed proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) to reduce the production of acid in the stomach. However, some patients continue to experience symptoms while taking PPIs. These patients need additional tests to confirm their diagnosis and guide their treatment going forward.

We offer technology and systems that enable us to objectively diagnose or rule out GERD. This technology can identify reflux at multiple locations and determine the root cause of symptoms, so we can determine the right treatment strategy. Reflux testing systems evaluate the frequency and duration of acid reflux to better understand patients’ symptoms.
