Colonoscopy Preparation
Below are instructions for some of the tests performed by Dr. Jaffrey Kazi. If other tests are recommended by Dr. Kazi to diagnose or treat a condition, the instructions and information concerning those procedures will be provided at that time.
A colonoscopy allows a physician to examine the interior of the lower gastrointestinal tract, specifically the colon and rectum. Before a colonoscopy is performed, some preparations are required prior to the date of the procedure. This is necessary so that the colon and rectum are cleared up so that they can be properly examined.
An upper GI endoscopy, also known as an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), allows for the examination of the upper GI tract, specifically the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. Before an endoscopy is performed, some preparations are required prior to the date of the procedure. The preparation for an endoscopy is considered to be simpler and less intensive compared to the preparation for a colonoscopy.
